Hollamby Estates applied to replace unused farm buildings in the Drove with the homes, including two designed to look like converted barns. Planning officers recommended approval but 17 neighbours objected to the demolition, loss of green space and highlighted danger to bats and a colony of protected Great Crested Newts.

If you look past the rather alarmist headline, it is apparent that appropriate mitigation works will be undertaken for protected species.
